Happy Father's Day

Daughters by John Mayer
(this is an amazingly true song)

I know a girl
she puts the color inside of my world
she's just like a maze
where all of the walls all continually change

I've done all I can
to stand on the steps with my heart in my hands
Now I started to think
maybe its got nothing to do with me.

so fathers be good to your daughters,
daughters will love like you do,
girls become lovers who turn into mothers
so mothers be good to your daughters too.

Oh

Oh you see that skin
its the same shes been standing in
since the day you two met
i bet i was on your mind
never ever any time

Oh yeah

so fathers be good to your daughters,
daughters will love like you do, yeah
girls become lovers who turn into mothers
so mothers be good to your daughters too.

boys you can break
find out how much they can take
boys will be strong and
boys soldier on
but boys would be gone
without warmth of a woman's good good heart

on behalf of every man
looking out for every girl
you are the god and the weight of her world
on behalf of ever man
who's looking out for every girl
you are the god and you are the weight of her world

so fathers be good to your daughters,
daughters will love like you do,
girls become lovers who turn into mothers
so mothers be good to your daughters too
so mothers be good to your daughters too
so mothers be good to your daughters too

Color Me A Father
By Steven E. Miller
A child with a crayon can color an imaginary world,
With dolls of mommies, daddies, boys and girls,
Full of horses, cowboys, cars and trains,
Can scratch them out and draw them all again,
Color me a rainbow with a pot of gold,
Color me a fairy with ribbons and bows,
Paint my face, a bright yellow sun,
In a green grassy field where a blue river runs,
With mountains and trees set in a colorful scene,
Monkey bars, teeter-totters, an old tire swing,
Color my face with a bright happy smile,
In a wonderful world, if only for awhile,
I can pretend my life is happy and gay,
Not worry about the mean stuff, just for the day,
Not worry about what I will eat, or where I will sleep,
Or the cock roaches and rats that make me creep,
Color me a family with brothers and sisters,
Color me a man to call Daddy, not Mister,
Color my mom in a bright yellow dress,
Stretched in a hammock under a tree with a nest,
In the yard of the house, we can call our own,
With neighbors on each side of our lovely home,
Color my dreams carefree and wild,
Color my life always as a child,
Color me a father, color me a Dad,
Color me the life that I never had.
Color me a garden with fruits of all kinds,
Apples, pears with grapes on the vine,
Color me a crayon that's really a crayon,
Not this old sharpened pencil that I just found,
To draw my picture on this brown paper bag,
That was once filled with gin and Ole' Granddad,
Now, Dream me a dream'Once upon a time,
I had a real father that I can call mine!

I have always wanted a Daddy. I had a father. I still have a father. But I always wanted a Daddy, a soft place to fall, and someone who would scare the monsters away. My father made the monsters look less scary because as a child I would run from him to them!

Treasure your children be a Daddy or they will turn out as whacky as me!!!! Grinzzzzzzzzz!!!!! I know you all have read my 101 things and the two tags the weird things about me post. So be warned!!

I love that John Mayer song. Fathers -- especially Daddy's -- play such an amazing role in the roadmap of our lives. I had a good one ... not perfect ... but loving and good.

And I think your so-called weirdness is wonderful.

TC: You are very welcome my friend!!

Stringman: The first time I heard that song I burst out crying and sobbing. It took me a good fifteen minutes to get composed. It is an amazing song!! Father's really do determine their daughter's roles and relationships. Thank you for saying my weirdness is wonderful. Kisses!!
