I Have Good News and I Have Bad News

The Bad News First

My Redskins lost yesterday. I am far from a sore loser but I must say the Referees were being paid for by the Seattle Seahawks. That was without a doubt a very poorly officiated game!!!

The Good News:

My daughter's cheer squad took first place at the competition. I am not so sure they deserved first place but who am I to argue. My daughter rocked (of course) hehe well she said she was .5 second late on her one jump and was very upset with herself. Honestly I watched only her and did not see it but she did. They did have a drop on one of their stunts. It was the opposite end of my daughter and she was shocked when I told her. She was asking me who it was? I did not know which girl. She said she will find out, gulps! The one girl was elbowed in the eye and cried the entire routine which is a NO NO>>> See what I mean definitely should have gotten second place. One time I saw a girl get kicked in her mouth, her teeth went flying, she was bleeding and still smiling and doing the cheer. My daughter took a mat dive this week and her nose is cut and bruised up. Anyone who says cheerleading is not sport go to one of the competitions. Well my daughter's boyfriend must love her very much. He went to the competition yesterday. Cheer competitions are LOUD!!!!!! He was with me for 7 hours to watch her perform for 3 minutes. At one point she walked over to tell him she saw him looking at the girls and walk away in a snit. (hehe 14 years old so cute) He looked at me and said ummm I am just watching the competition.

WOW is it ever cold today. The severe winds brought winter back. I am so missing the 60 degree weather of last week. The wind is so bad that my hair felt like a weapon attacking my face and neck.

Well since it is so very cold out. I have decided to make Maryland Crab Soup which is expensive when crabs are not in season but well worth it!! I use crab meat and do not put the shell in the soup like the above picture.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Sunday, try to keep warm if you are in the cold weather!!!

Ohhh, I haven't been first post in a while. I've been to cheer competitions before, it is definetly a sport. I longed to be a cheerleader but had nor the body nor the skill for it.

But I tried out in high school which I consider my bravest moment. To this day I still can't believe I did it. I like how you said her boyfriend was like 'um, just watching the competiton'

I'm sure he was like 'whuh? I was looking at you. And how can you see what I'm looking at when you're cheering?' heh.

I don't like to see the falls. That's terrible to watch. I like the spotters, though. they're cool.

Gunngirl: I never had the nerve to try out for cheerleading. I held my daughter back from cheering about four years. I was so afraid they would be mean to her. I would tell her I just missed the sign up. Finally she came to me three years ago with a filled out cheer form and said you sign me up or I will ask my father to. Well, it has been the best experience for her. She cheered for football for two years with a few competitions. Then she made the team that only competes so she stopped cheering for football and mainly competes on the Elite All Star team. I am so very proud of her.

The falls are horrible! Last year a girl fell on her neck from another team. They threw her up and never caught her. She went down like a rag doll and never moved. Thank God she just had such a stinger she was not able to move. One of our cheerleaders kept taking a kick to the temple. Everytime they did this stunt the flyer would kick her in the same spot. Well she got kicked went down and half her body was paralized. Her face looked like she had bellspalsy (sp)... Well after 2 weeks she began to get better the doctor said one more kick, hit or anything from any sport her injury would be permanent.

My daughter's boyfriend is so cute. He did not know which way to look.

Lori: The soup turned out FANTASTIC you better hurry they are eating it like there is no tomorrow.

Thank you for the congrats I told my daughter.

Jim C: Thank you so much!! It was a lot of fun. I think her boyfriend was a bit surprised. He is a karate man and use to those competitions. I am sorry the chowder did not turn out.

Undr: Thank you very much and I was also disappointed. I am not sure if the Redskins would have continued to win but I really did think the refs were awful.

RHSP: chuckles I thought you were just kidding! I am sorry! Will send it when I get home.

Yea, I know the Pats lost too :( bummer. At least now I am going to root for Seattle to get to the superbowl :)

Congratulations on your daughter - cheerleading competitions are fierce - I have seen some of them on ESPN2 which the judges are just strict! lol

Yummm Crab Soup ... when is dinner? ;)

At 1/17/2006, Blogger cherish said...

LoB: I had to stick the crab soup in the freezer so it would not be gobbled all up at one time. I also made chili that day but everyone was just eating the crab soup. So tonight we will have the chili. Whatever time you arrive I will tend to your dinner needs.

Cheerleading competitions are amazingly strict. If one of the girls is looking the wrong way they get points taken off. One time we lost first place because one of the girls did not look up at her flyer immediately, she hesitated a few seconds and we got second place. It was ashame because they rocked that day. But they said it was a safety violation.

I think I maybe pulling for the Steelers. GASPS I know I did not just say that. ughhhh I like the guy with the long hair, he is cool!
